Minneapolis Vintage Guide

Ya’ll, I love Minneapolis! Ever since college, I’ve visited the city almost every year, and I think it’s such a fun place to hang out. This trip was a very vintage-focused trip, and that’s why I’m bringing you my Minneapolis Vintage Guide today!

I went up to Minneapolis to shop the Minneapolis Vintage Market and record some episodes for Pre-Loved Podcast. And I had a blast doing it!

If you’d like to read my other Twin Cities’ Guide, you can check it out here. It’s a bit more brewery and music venue focused.

Minneapolis Vintage Guide

Minneapolis Vintage Market – First, my raison d’etre for visiting, no? The Minneapolis Vintage Market is a monthly vintage market with 25-60 vendors (I know! Huge!) specializing in curated vintage clothing. There’s a lot of variety in the vendors and something for every style.

By the way, if you’re more interested in upcycled goods, homewares, and other maker items, check out the Minneapolis Craft Market. It’s organized by the same lovely lot!

I also tapped an interview with the market’s founder, Hayley Matthews-Jones, so if you want to hear more about the show, give it a listen here!

Minneapolis Vintage Guide

Vintage at the Market:

The Some Shop – The Some Shop has some amazing boho pieces and I got a cropped peasant top there that I’ll cherish forever. They also share a stall with Hoople Head Vintage, which has amazing vintage tshirts that are cozy and worn-in.

An Evocative Spot – Molli has some amazing goodies in her booth! I got a flowy gingham peasant skirt that I adore. She has a great collection of vintage dresses and skirts.

Moth Oddities – Yana and Ian at Moth Oddities are fantastic! You’ll spot them at the market with their vintage station wagon, Eleanor. They specialize in 1960s-1990s vintage goodies, and they import some of their pieces from Italy so you’re sure to find unique things. They also sell in a couple of retail locations, so you can catch their stuff even if it’s not a market weekend.

Dearheart Vintage – Amber and Anna sell some amazing flower power vintage. This is where you want to go if you love color and pattern, for sure. They have amazing dresses, muumuus, and peasant tops. They have some racks available in The Hideaway in Dinkytown if you want check them out there, too.

Tandem Vintage – Amanda from Tandem is a sunshine-y rainbow and her shop reflects it! She’s got amazing dresses and jumpsuits. Her stuff is really wearable and you can totally see it being incorporated into a variety of closets because a lot of it is modern-looking and on-trend. You can also check her stuff out at the Find + Furnish space.

Other Vintage & Arsty Goodies:

Audrey Rose Vintage – Jessie was kind enough to meet up with me and show me around the Minneapolis art district. She has a studio in the Northrup King Building, which was really cool. She has an amazing collection of one-of-a-kind occasion-ware, everything from slightly dressy pieces to glam stuff. Check her out for your next event, for sure! She also offers personal styling appointments, and has the perfect personality for it. She knows how to make everyone feel at home.

Northrup King Building – This warehouse-building is home to 200+ artist studios, small businesses and non-profits. It’s basically my wonderland. Some of the studios are open as retail locations and others are maker spaces. There’s art in just about every medium here, and it is definitely worth a wander. This mural is by Ashley Mary and she’s fab.

Hunt & Gather – This place is about the most wild store I’ve ever seen. It’s got two stories and 15+ vendors. They do vintage, oddities, and homewares and it is absolutely KOOKY. Stuff is piled everywhere and you never know what you’re going to find around the next corner. You absolutely have to see it.

Rewind Vintage – Rewind specializes in 1970s-80s and it’s very wearable vintage. The store is big and she stocks about everything: women and men’s clothing, accessories, some indie contemporary brands. It’s definitely worth a wander.

Duke Albert – Duke Albert calls itself a lifestyle store. They’ve got gorgeous houseplants, candles, bath and self care products, books, and handmade jewelry. Plus, Moth Oddities sells vintage there, and like I said, they are rad! Duke Albert has a really cool vibe and it is exactly the type of place I would go to pick out a unique gift item for someone.

Bookish Bits

It wouldn’t be a city guide from me without a couple of bookstore recommendations! These were a couple of the bookstores I checked out this time around.

Moon Palace Books – A bright, colorful curated indie bookstore that is definitely worth a vist. They have a great selection of social justice, feminist, political books. They also curate their displays in a really cool way that features cover art phenomenally — you just have to see it. Inside is also the Geek Love Cafe, and it’s just a cool place to hang.

Magers & Quinn – This place has everything! They do new, used, and discount books, and it’s the type of bookstore where you can find absolutely any title on your Goodreads list. It’s the largest indie bookstore in Minneapolis, and it’s definitely worth a wander.

Foodie Stuff:

Hazel’s Northeast – Hazel’s is a made-from-scratch diner with fantastic coffee and very cozy vibes. Go for breakfast and have the biscuits and gravy — you won’t regret it!

Sociable Cider Werks – A super fun cidery with outdoor space and lots of doggos sitting out with their humans on a busy Friday night. I had a special guava-infused cider, but their regular tap list is long and it all sounds good!

That’s all for now!

This is your charge from me to take this Minneapolis Vintage Guide in hand and go shop all the wonderful sellers that the great city has to offer.
